Site Tracking Tools
Many of today’s websites are using an interesting way to see if their website is gaining any traffic, and thus they can also conclude whether or not their site is considered a valuable source on the internet. This way is called Site Tracking. It is used to track what people visit a particular website, and gathers information such as geographical location, browser, display resolution, and referring site. Using this information, they can also make the information contained on the website more relevant to the majority of visitors that are accessing the website. However, many of these site tracking tools vary in features, and some are inevitably better than others.
When starting to sitetrack your website, you have two options concerning how you are going to track the traffic. One of these is called “web server log analysis”, and requires that you own the server which hosts your website. Basically, all web servers use logs to store who visits the websites, and these logs are used for debugging problems in a website. Then, you make use a program that makes the data from the logs more sensible by making them easily interpretable. This is by turning the raw data into tables and graphs.
The second method that can be used to site track is using a premade script which tracks a single page’s traffic. Using this method requires you to place a script on your page, which tracks that page’s traffic. Everytime a person visits that page, the script is launched, and the script writes its own log. Usually these scripts come with an additional script that parses the log, and displays the results in tables and graphs.
The two best known “web server log analysis” site trackers are Analog and Webalizer. Surprisingly, I have found that these are both free and are some of the best available. Their commercial counterparts are often too expensive and are limited in their power. These two tools are very similar, but there are some differences. Webalizer is most concerned with months, rather than individual days, when it parses the data, and categories all the data on months. Analog, on the other hand, tracks traffic by weeks, and displays a summary of all the data since it was installed. Both of these display the same data with: entry and exit pages, browser versions, display resolutions, and regions.
On the other hand, the premade site tracking software which tracks only one page at a time seems to be more popular, as it does not require you to have any kind of special server functions, and is then more affordable overall. One example of this type of tracking software is Hitslink(http://www.hitslink.com). This particular software is quite good as it contains a lot more tracking options than other services, such as javascript capability check, cookie support, and color palette.
My recommendation for a personal site is to use a script on the first page that tracks visitors, as these types of webpages do not usually contain many pages. However, if an organization’s website is involved, such as TCIS, I recommend that a server log analysis tool is used instead, as the webpage is comprised of many pages.

My project for the 1st semester was to create a more compatible version of the TCIS website, for users that were not able to use Flash for one reason or another. Initially, the task seemed easy because basically all I had to do was to copy the content from the flash to webpages. However, I soon encountered an issue with creating a simple template which would be used for every page. After making about 5 different templates, I chose the same template that I used for the TCIS counseling website (www.unifriends.net/counseling/), which was intended to be rather simple and straightforward. After the making of the template, the only issue I had was copying and pasting text from the Flash, however that obsticle was soon overcome. Another big issue that i had prior to starting to copy text was the arrangement of the menus which proved to be quite a task, because I wasnt able to find an economic way to fit more than 10 links onto a sidebar. I solved this by adding only main pages, and from those pages there were links to the subsections..

If I were to make another webpage, I would probably do the same as before, however maybe create a simple template, then change it after I have seen how the content fits in to the pages.

During the time when I start to do my webpage, I have ask myself two or three question once I do my website. I have ask myself is this webpage good or bad, and will it be creative and so on.

Doing the webpage should be difficult. The first thing that it is difficult is the time is urgent. The time is really important to follow. On the last day when the website is due, I have only done four pages. We are supposed to do five pages, so I decided to do the last page at the last minutes. So I think this is the reason why I say time is difficult for me. The second difficult part of the website is the topic is hard. When I first do this webpage, I have no topic, so I decide to do myself. Which is hard, while I do my webpage? If you have a very good topic it might be good.

If I was to do another website, I will do it differently. I will change into better topic. Topic is the most important part when you do the webpage. If you change the topic, everything in your webpage must change.

My original goals were making websites about things around me such as myself, school friends, etc,. But then I changed to make webpage about photoshop because I felt like it wasn't organized.It wasn't easy to make webpage about photoshop as I thought, especially, the first quarter, it required my effort, and it really made me hard organizing, and look nice. Also, I have to learn technics as I make up the lectures of the photoshop.
In the second quarter, I planned to make FAQ and Message Board, but I decided to make more lectures to each pages I have. First I think it's useless to make both FAQ and Message Board, because they work similar. Also, I think it's not practical to make FAQ and Message Board, without people actually using it. I thought rather than making FAQ and Message Board, it has more utility to make more lectures to each pages.If I have a second chance to do it again, then I think I'll change the topic, and learn more about html, so the webpage look nicer.
After all, I think it's pretty fun to make webpage, and I think it will help me in the future as well.

Under some problem, I'm here, helping Annie post her reflection paragraph for her last assigment

My original goals were to make three pages, which were about Miyu’s author, Miyu’s pictures, and a site map. However, I almost did everything, except the site map page. I didn’t make that page, because I think my website is clear enough and I don’t think my website is difficult to navigate! Also, I have made another page, which contains many pictures are drawn by other people and me. I think placing the pictures on this page is the most difficult part, because when I put another one on it, the previous pictures changed their places. So, I had to move them back to the same place, when I inserted an image to the page! Oh!~ Before I add the images to the page, I have to use firework to change the sizes of the images. So, the images will not take a lot of time to load! Moreover, I added a link to a yahoo group, so visotors can post their feelings and ideas on the group! If I can do this website again, then I would make a new background, and change my menu pictures, because I think my background is too normal, and my menu pictures are too small. Because my menu pictures don’t have enough space for me, I cannot add more links on it!!! Therefore, I think I would choose a pictures with more blink space for my menu, and I would design a new background if I have a second chance to do this project!

Finally~the first semester has come to an end, and the very first experience with building website was really amazing! The topic for my website was about The Class of 2004, my intention was to link everyone who is in or has been in our class. Besides, since we are graduating soon, I think it would be very meaniful if such website is created. Therefore, my original plans were making pages like profiles of all the people both currently in the class and previously participated in the class, having a complete photo gallery...etc. However, since it's the class website, most of the information are based on everyone in the class, and this is what makes it difficult for me since I really have to nail people down in order to gather the complete information, which takes a lot of time! Especially for the part that I was planning to do a contact profile for the former students of the class, because I couldn't reach to all of them (there were 24 of them in total), so I was forced to change my plan and do a F.A.Q page instead. During the construction of the website, I first used Netscape Composor. But then I discover that Dreamweaver MX has more effects, so I change to use it in the second quarter.
Overall, it was a great experience, and because of making this website, I was able to have a better chance to keep in contact with people I don't know so well. If I have a second chance to do the project, I will not change my topic but do a better job!

Marketing manager is an important job in a company as it takes care of its marketing and public relations. The responsibilities that the marketing manager has to take are pretty heavy. From designing marketing program to analyze market, marketing manager is responsible for all. However, it is still a great job to have because there are markets all around the world. If there is a company, then there must be a market manager being needed. Therefore, this job will definitely thrive in the Asia region including Thailand, Taiwan, and Korea since there is a big business market in these areas as well. Due to the reason, I believe it is a very well-paid career since a marketing manager has to be skillful in a wide range, needs many qualifications to become one, and as well as determining how much money a company will earn.
Such job as a marketing manager seems to be very challenging, which is something I love. Besides challenges, I also have a strong curiosity about the Web and the desire to experiment with building HTML pages. Also, Advertising management, public relations, and media planning sounds a lot of fun! However, that does not mean I will be fit in for this job. This website really took me sometime to organize! I have to choose what kind of topic i should include in my website, and what i want to delete. By doing this website project! I use lots of software! For picture editing, I use Adobe Photo Shop and Paint in window to create my on logo or picture. For button i use website that offer free logo render page to create it! For picture i search through internet to find free picture to put it in my page. For website building, i use different page maker, like Dreamweaver, Netscape Composer and microsoft front page to build my pages! The different quality inside these software really helps me through out the project! For different page building software has some tools that are easy for me to use, that why i use all of them. Lastly, for Java script i went to dynamicdrives to find free java script so i can put them in my page! Some of them i will edit it, so it look different!!

“Production Person”
According to the article, people need to start out as a production assistant before they become “Web Producers”. In order to be a production assistant, people have to know the basic knowledge of HTML, and graphics applications such as Photoshop. When they have the ability to change a Photoshop mock-up into a usable interface, a knowledge of JavaScript, and familiarity with Unix commands, they can move on to more complex projects. Soon, their skill set grows and then become a “Web Producers”.
This is a challenged career, because a web producer needs to develop and organize content, which is one of the important ingredients for making a successful website. As we all know, a good content can make visitors think, get motivated, and laugh, or most importantly, come back for more. If the producer develops a bad content that is boring and passive, then less people would like to visit the website. The producer also builds information architectures and assist with interface issues that are the structure of how a website is placed together, and how easily the visitor can go around the site. If the site structure and navigation is poor, then when visitors are viewing the site, they may have the feeling of confusion, causing people not to come back this unsuccessful site.
Web producer is a good career for me, because it can build and increase my experiences and skills by starting out as a production assistant. Little by little, I would have knowledge of JavaScript, familiarity with Unix commands, and the ability to change a Photoshop mockup into a usable interface. Then, I can work on the more complex project. When I have all the skill, I can become an independent “Web Producer”, who helps the companies or shops to develop contents, and to assist interface issues, etc. Of course, the employers will give me a nice salary!!
This career will thrive in an Asian country like Thailand, Korea, or Taiwan. In the country, there are many companies who use advertisements to present their products; however, only the citizens in the country can see the products. In order to make their products well-known, the companies will need to create website which display all their products. Therefore, they need a web producer to develop and organize the content of the site, to build the information structure, and to assist the interface issues. Because of the web producer, the website can attract more visitors or buyers who are interesting in their products. Gradually, more shops and small companies will employ web producers to make website, which makes their products famous. The incomes of companies and shops also increase.

Marketing Managers are the people who design and implement marketing programs and evaluate the success of the marketing. These people also undertake market research and analysis, advertising, management, public relations, and media planning. They all have to care about the size, placement, access, control, and expense of the marketing programs. Marketing manager work with people like editorial staff, producers and statement/messaging designers, and they promote campaigns for the media products and take them to market.
Marketing Managers should be analytic and creative, have ability to translate strategy into tactics and ideas into action, have good verbal and written communication skills, and have skill to work with a variety of personalities. They usually have strong intuitive sense of how the message to the audience will perform in the market, and they should have rigorous analysis and evaluation for how their marketing programs worked. These people should have experience of building HTML pages, and should have good knowledge and comfortable feeling in computer technology. They should know the tactics to advertise, such as why, what, where, how they are advertising.
I think the work is fun and exciting because the work Marketing managers have a lot of work like analysis and evaluation of all the things about marketing programs, advertising, planning, etc. I think the career is quite famous in Korea, and all around Asian countries, whose IT department is developing dramatically. Moreover, I think they are all well paid since it requires skills in IT, knowledge in tactics and creative ideas. Because thousands and millions of people use Internet every day in those Asian countries, I think having marketing program in Internet is really good career. Depends on how the marketing manager research, design the marketing programs on a site, thousands and millions people can motivated to the idea, which fascinates me. Since those Asian countries are developing their IT dramatically, and Internet users, who contact the marketing program on sites, want something new, they will be motivated well, if marketing managers come up with better ideas of programs.

The author of the book, Jeffery Deaver has written many mysteries and crime books. These include, The Vanished Man, The Stone Monkey, Hell’s Kitchen and Speaking in Tongues. Born in the 1950s, he has written 18 novels, since he was eleven years old. He has been working as a journalist and a writer, and has received his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri.
Traditionally, I have usually read books from my favourite authors, Michael Crichton & Allen M. Steele. These books have typically been sci-fi novels, which I have liked because they are not based on reality so much. This novel is based on reality, which is usually not my favourite topic, even though most of the “facts” have been skewed in the story. The Blue Nowhere, a novel, is a lot like a Agatha Christie novel, but with a slight twist. Not only is the period of time in which it takes place in the present, and it involves evidence that is not commonly used today, digital evidence. The story begins at a local bar, Sara Gibson, a young woman in the Silicon Valley, is going to meet her cousin, or who she thinks is her cousin. When she believes that she has met him, she leaves with him. She then arrives at her car, and realizes her mistake in trusting her “cousin” And the so whole story begins.
The basic idea of the story is that two unlikely partners have to catch a criminal that conducts most of his business online, by finding out information about them, then murdering them when he encounters them in real life. When the CCU or the Computer Crimes Unit of the California State Police department finds about of these events and of what calls them, it is decided that an immediate solution is required. Dr. Anderson, of that division, comes to free Wyatt Gillette from a prison. In contrast to the cyberkiller seen earlier, Gillette has committed a crime that is miniscule compared to that, hacking into computers and playing pranks. Because of his hacking skills, he is selected by Dr. Anderson to help him track down the killer. Together with Frank Bishop (an old-style investigator), they slowly track down the killer, and run into many dead ends whilst doing this.
Overall, this book, in my opinion, is an average book. I concluded upon this judgment of it, because I generally don’t really like the way that it is written. Most of the information that is used to “support” the evidence in the story is inaccurate. This occurs both at the IT level and at the social level. The social environment that is described is mostly off because of the fact that the population in the Silicon Valley is mostly composed of people with little or no computer literacy, in my experience. Most of the people in the computer field do not go out that much so the large part of the population that is outside is not often very computer literate. On the IT level, only general concepts are used, thus it is not very well supported. An example of this is the ease in which the hacker gets into a computer, which is highly exaggerated. In reality this would take much more knowledge to accomplish. However, if one has general knowledge of the field, the book provides enough information to make a reader of that level interested in the novel.
I would not necessarily recommend this to anyone, unless they are passionate about crime novels. Otherwise, I would not recommend it to people that are in hard-core IT area, because it is too inaccurate and seems impossible.

I really want to be a copyeditor, because I have trouble getting fake information, or a lot of errors within the website information. In order to become one copyeditor, I have to be perfect with my English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; good at sorting through large information. I have to be able to read html codes. I have to be able to organize the text so the web viewer will be able to perceive what the web trying to tell everyone. So I must be very sensitive with catching the mistake! Smart enough to change the information so everyone can read it. I have to be Artistic enough to edit the web so it comfortable to read and easy to follow through. Lastly, I have technical enough so I can fix the bug in the website.
I think this is a great career to do, because today, there are million and millions of people surfing on internet today. They try to absorb the information they need. Even though, some of the information are error, and they miss lead them. I think this job we be highly paid in educational organization in Taiwan. They need right information, so that children and people who view this site will be able to find the right information for their assignment or works. Moreover, people are reading through lot of site today, if the sites are organize in a way that everyone can hardly follow their idea. Then it useless site, even if that site has the best ideas. Therefore, keeping the information in a good form it important to education today, so everyone can use it. I believe that if I find a job in educational organization, I might get paid for high salary.

As you all know, I have made Miyu's Zone, a website about Vampire Miyu. My website is same as my plan. I haven't change anything. For the website, I have made four pages, including homepage, information about myself, other links, and information about Miyu. I have learned a lot of things when I make the website. For example, I know how to make my own logo. Before I entered the web design class, I knew nothing about dreamwaver or Phtoshop. Now, I know a little about dreamwaver and Photoshop. The website that I have been and am currently working on is the Counseling Website. This website provides information pertaining to Mr. Curt and the Counselor's Office. Rather than making a completely new website for Mr. Curt, I have used a previous website that the previous counselor had designed (http://luna326.tripod.com/), I decided to give the website a bit of a facelift. This facelift involved using frames, and reorganizing some of the sections of the website. The main webpage of the site is divided into three main sections: Lower School, Upper School, and About the Counselor. Under these main sections, there is more information that relates to that subject. For example, under the upper school section, there is a link to a Junior and Senior calendar, and also a link to a page with links to Colleges and Universities. I have decided to use the dark blue color as a background of the menu, which is the same color as one part of the TCIS uniform. As I make my websites, I couldn't make the one I planned before. I think the website I planned before has no unity of each page. Therefore, I've changed to a new topic:Photoshop. The website is about learning photoshop. It doesn't just explain what photoshop does, but it teaches how to use photoshop. I think it is more useful than just explaining what photoshop does. Although right now, it has only three lectures, I think I'll post and update lectures every week throughout the year. Also, in the future, I'll make FAQ page and board, so people can write what they want to learn.

As a summary for what i have included in my essay, I will briefly list what I talked about in the essay. Although I have learned the Internet Detective strategies from a couple of my previous classes, i have found that it is a very useful class for people that have not previously conducted any research on the rather large and confusing internet. I have found that Google (www.google.com) seems to fill the Internet Detective Criteria the most. Most of the links that are found by searching are accurate and valid.

When I go through the "Internet Detective", I learn the importance of good websites and how to judge a website! But, it is super tired to read all that stuff!~
This blogger website is fun and convenience!~I love the speed of this website.
This website contains things that I learn from the Internet Dective such as form, content, and process~
When I saunter around this site..I see FAQ (Frequency Asked Question), Home, Support, Search engine,
and Help, etc. All of them are well-organized!~ I think I start to love this website...
Unfortunately, I can't find the homework that assign by Ms Antoin........I am going crazy~

Opps forget to say, i think i like yahoo the best!! it can be in different language, and tell us current news!! also it a easy site to surf around without worrying dead link!( most of time) even though in search engine it lead us to site that we don't know is good or bad!! but having the idea from Internet Detective! i think we are safe la!!

Summary:
Well, my summary for website evaluation is base on how that site attracted to me, and how quick I can log on to that web!! This is kind of different than other people! Well but after finish the internet detective course!! I never think those internets are not only judge by how it impresses us!! When I open a website, I usually look how cool it looks!! If it has word only, I usually choose a new site for the source I was looking for! But now I’ve learn that some site has important source or primary source that I need!! Even their site is plain, but it doesn’t mean the quality of site is low! Well, if I have to judge a site now, I think first I will find out is that site an official site!! Than I will check it, is this site the site I need by checking it site map. Next, I will check the citation or bibliography of this site! To see who has the credit of this work and check see if they are expert or pro in this subject. Lastly, I will check if the site links are connected or not! Also FAQs are good to help me answer some question I have had, so FAQs are important as well!!!

Since there are countless websites out there on the internet, it is necessary for us to have a criteria in mind in order to choose the right ones for use. However, due to the reason of different people have different purpose of using internet, the criteria people have in mind varied. For me, my purpose of using internet is to search information for my homework, therefore I would judge the quality of the websites by its accuracy, validity, completeness, coverage. Moreover, since I am not good at computer, I tend to like the websites that are easily-navigated. So, the navigation feature is another crucial criteria. Furthermore, it would be very frustrated if the websites are not stable or do not update frequently. Therefore, I would look for its information integrity, system integrity, and site integrity as well. In addition, I prefer websites that provide various services, including free e-mal boxes.

So, among my favorite websites, I think that Yahoo Taiwan is the website that meet all the criteria of Internet Detective and mine.

okay, the summary of my essay is about content, form, and process [of course!!-_-;;]. Anyway, my favorite website is Daum [some of you know,, the one Kyung's checking her e-mail everytime ^-^;] www.daum.net. Okay, the content of the website is good [haha ^^;;]. It has e-mail, messanger, cafe, everyday news, shopping mall, and stock market. It is good because it is clear and and very simple for users to do all those things. Form, Since it is used by many people from all generations, its format of word and color is very clean and simple. It uses warm color and simple back ground that it gives warm and family-like feeling. Process, also good, because it updates things every time. E-mail and mesanger bring out a new system in a contant time, news and stock market are updated every time, and cafe backgrounds change every time. It makes users to feel that the website is new and alive [-_-||]. That is my summary!! I need to send the hwk to ms tonette, but don't know her e-mail address ^^;;;. Can somebody write up her e-mail address??
